ALOE VERA
I then tried replicating the shadows and highlights I saw on metal can to add dimension into my drawing. It was at this point that I discovered that I still needed more practice on blending colors smoothly with watercolor paints. Once finished painting, the metal can, I started sketching the aloe vera plant.
|
I found myself experimenting with colors a lot, as I had a lot trouble coming up with the right tones for the aloe vera plant. I touched up on the shading on the metal can added the smaller details onto the aloe vera plant, such as the little bristles found on the tips of each individual aloe vera leaf.

RAMEN NOODLES
I then proceeded to color in the yellow stains of the empty cup. However, for the shading, my touch markers proved to be a bit too pigmented, so I used yellow colored pencils instead. I also used the colored pencil to paint the rim of the cup yellow. Lastly, I started shading in the cup with the touch markers to add more dimension.

TEDDY
Ceramic Giraffe
I begin painting the head of the giraffe. The head of the giraffe had of highlights. The hardest part to paint was the ear. The giraffe's ear had a lot of color changes because it was more three-dimensional than the rest of the giraffe and was protruding out towards me. Once I had started painting, I also noticed that the acrylic paint I was using seemed to "slip and slide" a lot. This caused my shading to be more dramatic, rather than the subtle blend I wanted to achieve. |
I added highlight to the giraffe's rear and gradually darkened its color as I moved farther away from the giraffe's outline. I also added highlight to the giraffe's neck. The blending in the giraffe's neck is not something I am proud of. At this point, I vowed to never paint on this type of brown paper with acrylics.
